Recognising and celebrating National Day of Women Living with HIV
9 March is National Day of Women Living with HIV. Today, we recognise, celebrate and acknowledge all women living with HIV (WLIV) and reflect on a decade of commitment and growth and the significant steps that all WLIV have taken as a community.
This year’s theme, ‘A Decade of Progress and Challenges: Celebrating our Journeys,’ reminds us that progress can only be achieved when we reinforce and recommit our efforts to ensure that everyone is treated equally.
At BGF, we're dedicated to addressing the stigma and barriers that WLIV can often face. We celebrate the courage, resilience and achievements of all women and we honour, remember and celebrate their voices and contributions.
We are reminded on days like this that equality in healthcare, reduction in barriers to appropriate testing and treatment and the elimination of HIV-related stigma in our communities are goals we should strive for all year round, not just on days like this.
We hope that today is the start of not just a reflection but a call to action for more progress, more care and more celebration of women living with HIV in Australia.
