Hamish Macdonald to join BGF as patron
Hamish Macdonald, award-winning journalist and co-host of Global Roaming on ABC Radio National and The Project on Channel Ten has joined the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation (BGF) as a new patron.
Nick Lawson, CEO of BGF made the announcement today. “We are thrilled to welcome Hamish as one of our patrons. His dedication to journalism and his commitment to social justice have made this a perfect partnership,” he said. “His voice and platform will be invaluable for us to raise awareness and advocate for all people living with HIV. We look forward to working together.”
Macdonald said “I am honoured to join BGF. Their work is so important and I look forward to contributing to their mission and helping to amplify the voices and stories of those affected by HIV.”
Hamish has had an extensive career covering wars, disasters and major world events and has seen him win numerous awards including a Walkley for current affairs journalism. He was also named Young Journalist of the Year by Britain’s Royal Television Society.
In addition to his work in Australia, Hamish has worked for Channel 4 News in the UK, Al Jazeera English and America’s ABC where was international affairs correspondent.
In 2016, Hamish became a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University.
