In addition to being the Emeritus Founding Chair of Qtopia Sydney, David is a passionate HIV advocate and was one of the first 400 people diagnosed with HIV/AIDS in Australia.
Over the years, David put his body and his life on the line in 28 HIV drug trials so that people living with HIV today can live long, healthy lives.
A stigma warrior, David works tirelessly towards raising HIV awareness and reducing stigma & discrimination through education. Recently for International Zero HIV Stigma Day, he said:
"There is absolutely NO SHAME in being HIV. HIV is just another medical condition caused by a virus. Today there are treatments that enable people living with HIV to live a fully productive healthy life whilst also preventing them from passing on the virus to anyone else. Help stop this awful HIV stigma and discrimination."
