Improving quality of life for BGF community members means reducing the impact HIV has on physical, psychological and social health. So, giving our community plenty of opportunities to get out and about, enjoy a social activity and connect with one another is a vital part of how we do this.
On Friday, we took 20 of our community members on a bus for a day out to the Museum of Contemporary Art, followed by lunch at Squires Landing. Everyone had a great day with many smiles and lots of new friendships formed.
One of our community members said, “All up, it was great to be together. We shared an excellent day. Thank you BGF, for reminding us of all the colour and joy we experience when we give ourselves the chance.”
Social outings give our community a chance to have some fun and connect with one another in a safe, non-judgmental space with peers.
They are fully funded by your generous donations. Thank you from all of us at BGF for helping us to support people living with HIV to thrive.
JT's MCA Story
"Contemporary art is more fun than I remember. Inflatable blowflies and oversized blow up poo emojis sparking joy. Upstairs at an MCA video installation, I heard a wildly happy seven year old yell out: 'the goat on the stairs is back!'
Videos montages with disjointed spoken word is very hip right now. Likewise, abstract colour and lush Aboriginal works.
I’m not sure I would have dived in if not for BGF’s social outing. Afterwards, we all headed to the Passenger Terminal for a delicious lunch. Even though it was a bit rainy, we brought the sunshine.
All up, an excellent day. Seriously, thanks BGF. It’s great to be reminded of all the colour and joy we can experience when we give ourselves the chance."
