‘Creative Wellness’ our Art Therapy program wrapped up last night after six incredible weeks with our facilitator Fiona!
With Fiona's gentle guidance, we had the chance to connect with thoughts, feelings, and experiences, using different creative modalities.
From creating personal collages, to working with clay to demonstrate strengths, painting to explore resilience and using pastels to recreate our ‘peaceful place’, it has been a profound experience for all involved.
One member said, “In one session we talked about our strengths and weaknesses, so I thought about where my strengths were and where my weaknesses were and what I needed to work on to make them stronger.”
On the ‘Peaceful Place’ exercise, JT said to Fiona, “I’d revisited a place I had almost forgotten because you had asked us to go back. And it’s become a space that I go to when I need an anchor.”
Another member agreed and said that the 'Peaceful Place' exercise has helped him cope better with anxiety and improve his sleep.
He said:
“I’ve been really surprised by how much of an impact coming to these sessions would have. It really has been a profound experience for me.”
A big thank you to Fiona who has guided us over the past six weeks! And to our generous donors who continue to support us so that we can run programs like this.
